Army Man Among 5 Booked for Stone Pelting in Lolab
KUPWARA; Police in Kashmir Friday booked an Indian Army trooper along with five youth on charges of stone pelting in north Kashmir’s Lolab Valley.
Reports said a group of youth was protesting near Radnag village Friday against the killing of seven suspected militants in Lalpora on Tuesday evening in Dardpora who also hurled stones at forces deployed in the area.
A joint team of police and CRPF chased the youth and caught hold of five persons.
A police official told GNS news agency that among the five arrested, one is a Territorial Army soldier who was on a leave.
The arrested Army man has been identified as Mohammadd Ishaq Lone, son of Ghulam Ahmed Lone, a resident of Hayatpora, Lolab.
Muneer Ahmad Khan, Firdous Ahmad Sheikh, Bilal Ahmad Bhat and Mohd Abass Rather, all hailing from Kupwara district were among the arrested persons.
Reports said CRPF personnel deployed in the area went berserk after the protests and smashed windowpanes of residential houses.
