Army Officer's Cavalcade Attacked in North Kashmir

BARAMULLA: An Indian army officer, heading a unit of Rashtriya Rifles in Baramulla district, was Saturday attacked by suspected militants was escaped unhurt. No one was injured in the incident.

Police sources told that the guerrillas fired at the vehicle of the Rashtriya Rifles battalion commander at Khushipora in Rafiabad area while he was going about on routine duties.

“Militants used automatic weapons and grenades to attack the vehicle of the commandant of the RR battalion stationed in Rafiabad area of Baramulla district.

“The militants’ fire was returned by the guards of the commander. No RR personnel was injured in the attack. Militants are believed to escaped under the cover of darkness in the area,” a senior police officer said.
