Code Of Conduct Violated By Directorate Of Education

SRINAGAR; Taking strong note of the reported transfers in Directorate of School Education Kashmir, the district election officer Friday ordered that the transfers must be kept in abeyance in view of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for the forthcoming parliamentary polls.

A loca,l news gathering agency reported, that more than 40 transfers of teaching staff in Srinagar were ordered by Director School Education Kashmir in the recent past, bypassing the guidelines set by the Election Commission of India (ECI). Pertinently, during the imposition of Code of Conduct, the authorities are not permitted to order any transfers and postings in their respective departments.

A senior officer in the district administration confirmed the reports informing that action in this regard has been initiated. “We have also received complaints about the transfers in violation of the model code of conduct,” said the officer adding that keeping in view the sanctity of elections the CEO Srinagar has been ordered by the District Election Officer to keep all such transfers in abeyance. The officer stated further that nobody will be allowed to violate model code of conduct and the same must be obeyed in letter and spirit.

However, director school education, Mir Tariq Ali, told that the orders were issued prior to the enforcement of code of conduct. “All the orders issued have been passed prior to code of conduct and there has been no violations of this election commission guidelines,” the director school education added.
