Geelani Unwell; Police Ends Siege
SRINAGAR; Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman, Syed Ali Geelani has fallen ill and Hurriyat has appealed people to pray for his recovery.
“Geelani Sahab is facing with a number of ailments and we are planning to shift him to Hospital,” Hurriyat (G) spokesman, Ayaz Akbar told adding “We appeal people to pray for his recovery.”
85 years old Geelani, returned from New Delhi only two days before and was placed under house arrest.
Geelani’s family sources said that he is suffering from severe chest infection and they are planning to shift him to hospital.
Meanwhile, Police withdrew its personnel from his residence.
“As the news of illness reached the authorities, they decided to end the siege of Geelani’s residence and called back the personnel who were outside his residence to ensure his house detention,” sources said.
Geelani spent most of his days under house detention since 2010.
