Harrasment of Kashmiri Muslims is India's Policy: Syed Geelani
SRINAGAR; While expressing his concern and anguishes over the incident of expulsion of 150 Kashmiri students from Swami Vivekanand Subharti University Merrut UP, after the Indo-Pak match was over and stabbing of a youth in Hotel Sahara by army personals in Gulmarg, Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Geelani on Tuesday strongly condemned such incidents and said that Kashmiries are unsafe in and outside the state and are not allowed to express their emotions in peaceful manner.
In a press release, while taking strong notice of the incident in Meerut UP, Geelani sahab said that the responsible persons should be taken to task. He said that it is not the only incident of its kind, however Kashmiri students are harassed everywhere in India on one or other pretext. adding that the state administration is acting as mute spectators on these incidents and they have miserably failed in protecting the lives of Kashmiries especially students outside Jammu and Kashmir.
Hurriyat chairman said that although Umar led government have many a times assured for the action, but all these promises proved to be a hoax and Kashmiries continued to be subjected to political vengeance in every nock and corner of India. He said that in 2013 about half a dozen Kashmiries were killed in India and many where subjected to custodial disappearances.
He said that although the Home Minister of India Shusheel Kumar Shinday have expressed his concern over such incidents and have said that the police and security forces have been instructed not to harass the Muslim population especially Kashmiri Muslim, but this statement was merely for the sake of statement and it was never implemented on the ground. It was proved that this statement was an election stunt for upcoming 2014 Parliamentary elections.
He said that it has become the policy of India to harass the Muslim population especially Kashmiri Muslims and such incidents are increasing day by day. While expressing unity with the parents of the students of Swami Vivekanand University Meerut, Geelani Sahab said that we equally share their concern and anguishes and are keenly observing the situation, if the students are not called back, we will perform our duty to act against the incident.
While strongly condemning the incident of army personals in Gulmarg Hotel, Geelani sahab said that the FIR should be lodged against the culprits and they should be punished for the act.
