Major Accidents Averted in South Kashmir

SRINAGAR; Rail service between Qazigund to Banihal was suspended this morning after a portion of track was washed away due to heavy rains since Monday.

However, rail run from Baramulla in north Kashmir to Qazigund in south Kashmir via Srinagar, Badgam, Pulwama, Anantnag and Kulgam was going on smoothly, official sources said.

They said that a portion of track between Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region was washed away while some other portion was under water.

So it was decided to suspend the rail run as a precautionary measure. However, railway sources said that 15 feet of track was washed away due to heavy rains since Monday.
