Renowned Wrestler Basharat Wins ‘Beni’ Contest in London

LUTON; Beni’ the favorite muscle game of Kashmiris, competition was arranged in Luton and Kashmiri origin Britain Wrestler Raja Basharat won the contest.

The competition was organized under the patronage of renowned community leader Pehalwan Haji Malik Panu, Chaudhry Shafat Pothi, Muhammad Meharban Butt, Malik Abbas, Raja Yaqoob Khan President Muslim Conference Luton, Raja Basharat Junior, Alhaj Raja Allah Ditta and Raja Murtaza from London.

Member Kashmir Council Chaudhry Muhammad Khan was chief guest while former Community Welfare Minister of PHC London Raja Salis Kayani, General Secretary of Muslim Conference and former Mayor Councilor Riaz Butt, President PML-N Britain Raja Zuber Kayani, Councilor Tahir Malik, Spokesman PML-N Sardar Murtaza Ali, PML-N leader Raja Iftikhar Khan, PPP leader Raja Azam Khan, Muslim Conference leader Prof Mumtaz Hussain Butt, Prof Imtiaz Chaudhry,  Raja Fazarat Kayani and Raja Shaukat Ali were present besides a huge number of people from all walks of life who enjoyed the sports activity.

The people who love “Beni” a most popular power game of Kashmir came in a large number to support their favorite wrestlers.

Besides, wrestler and people from Luton game lover from London, /slough, Birmingham, Devisberry, Bolton, Bradford, Nottingham, Sheffield, Blackburn, Slok, Oldham,  and other cities came to take part in the activity.

During the ‘Beni’ competition interesting contested were witnessed which provide a better entertainment to spectators. The biggest and tough contest of ‘Beni’ competition was between Raja Basharat Khan, a Luton based wrestler hailing from Kotli Azad Kashmir and is nephew of Raja Yaqoob, and Chaudhry Mehmood of Bradford who is hailing from Dena Punjab who is brother of well-known wrestler Atteeq.

Raja Basharat of Luton won the contest after a very tough resistance from Chaudhry Mehmood and spectators largely praised him.

Pehalwan Kashur Najeeb is son of Pehalwan Najeeb and Nephew of renowned wrestlers Pehalwan Farhad and Chaudhry Ziad.

The contests were between Pehalwan Chaudhry Asad and Pehalwan Chaudhry Zia which won by Chaudhry Asad. Between Pehalwan Rabnawaz of Luton and Pehalwan Safarsh of Birmingham, which won by Rabnawaz. Between Pehalwan Raqeeb of Luton and Pehalwan Amjid of Devisberry which won by Raqeeb. Some small contests were held and junior Pehalwans from Luton remained winners in these contests.

The Pehalwans from different cities danced on the tunes of drums.

Terming the ‘Beni’ Competition a healthy sign of Luton city chief guest Muhammad Khan and Salis Kayani said on one side people are enjoying the game as an entertainment while on the other hand it will help to highlight the rich culture and traditions of motherland in Britain. Today after watching the ‘Beni’ it feels like staying in motherland.

They said we are congratulate people of Luton for holding such a wonderful event and it is sure this will remain continue.

Former Mayor Councilor Riaz Butt, President PML-N Britain Raja Zuber Kayani, Raja Yaqoob Khan, Councilor Tahir Malik, PPP leader Raja Azam Khan, Muslim Conference leader Prof Mumtaz Hussain Butt, Prof Imtiaz Chaudhry praised the game of Raja Basharat saying he played very well and was deserving victory. We congratulate Raja Basharat over this victory.
