Resistance Leaders Invited to Pak's National Day

SRINAGAR; The Pakistan’s Foreign office has invited Kashmir’s pro-freedom leadership to New Delhi on April 02 on the eve of Pakistan’s national Day.

Sources told that the Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit has formally extended invitation to Kashmir’s resistance camp including Huriyat Conference (M), Huriyat Conference (G), Huriyat Conference (JK) and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF).

The senior leader of Huriyat JK Farooq Ahmad Dar has also been invited to attend the function. The reports informed further that Chairman Huriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani who is already in Delhi for treatment will attend the function.

The reports stated that earlier the function was scheduled to be held on March 23 but was postponed to April 2.

Sources said that Basit who was appointed as Pakistan's High Commissioner to India, on February 17 this year was busy with some official formalities. Basit joined the Foreign Service in 1982 and has held various assignments in Pakistan Missions abroad and at the headquarters.

Before his new appointment, he was the Pakistan Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany since May 2012. In India he replaced Salman Bashir.
