After 2 Sunny Days, Rain is Back in Kashmir

SRINAGAR; After two sunny days, rain is back in the Kashmir valley, night temperature has witnessed increase but the maximum temperature dropped again.

There was however, slight improve in the night temperature though it was still below freezing point.

A Met department spokesman said here this afternoon that light to moderate rain would occur at a few places over Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.

During the subsequent two days there would be scattered to fairly wide spread rain or thundershowers.

After bright sunshine for two days, providing much relief to people after a month-long bad weather, the sky became cloudy yet again. Srinagar and its adjoining areas besides other parts of the Kashmir valley experienced rains resulting in cold.

People could be seen wearing jackets, woolen and warm cloths again today.

Met spokesman said Kargil, a border town in Ladakh region, remained coldest with minus 3.6 degree minimum temperature while at Leh it was minus 3.2 degree.

He said the sky would be partly cloudy and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 13 degree and minus 3 degree respectively.

However, the in the Kashmir valley the minimum temperature, which was below normal for the past two days, was above because of cloudy sky during the night.

In the summer capital, Srinagar, against yesterdays 4.7 degree minimum temperature, it was 7 degree, a notch above normal, he said.

However, today cold revisited Srinagar because of rain and cloudy sky.

Met spokesman said there could be light rain or thundershowers during the next 24 hours when the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 17 degree and 3 degree respectively.

Gulmarg, a world famous ski resort in north Kashmir also recorded increase in the night temperature. Against yesterdays minus 1.8 degree, it was 0.8 degree, two degree above normal.

Famed health resort of Pahalgam recorded 0.6 degree against yesterdays minus 2 degree because of cloudy weather.
