SRINAGAR; Senior leaders of the recently formed third front of Hurriyat, Hurriyat Conference Jammu Kashmir, were detained Friday by police to prevent them from visiting South Kashmir's volatile Shopian town.

According to a statement issued to Kashmir Informer, "A large contingent of Police on Friday arrested senior leaders of Hurriyat Conference-JK Shabir Ahmed Shah, Nayeem Khan, Shabir Dar, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Muhammad Yaseen Ataee, Aijaz Ahmed Mir and dozens of party activists while they were heading towards South Kashmir's Shopian district to continue their election boycott campaign."
