SRINAGAR; Srinagar, the summer capital of the state is facing huge deficiency of positions both in the gazetted and non-gazetted categories with official figures pointing that the number of vacant posts in the district is more than 4000.
According to the figures made available by the General Administration Department, 4507 posts of gazetted, non-gazetted and class-IV are vacant in the Srinagar district. The break up given by the General Administration Department point out that 586 posts are vacant in gazetted category while as the number of vacant posts in non-gazetted category are 2527. At the same time 1394 posts in class-IV category are vacant in the summer capital of Jammu & Kashmir.
Higher Education department accounts for highest number of vacancies in the gazetted category with 248 posts with the number of non-gazetted and class-IV posts being 87 and 112 respectively. In the Health and Medical Education department, 95 gazetted posts are vacant while as the number of vacant posts with respect to non-gazetted and class-IV posts are 806 and 511 respectively.
In the School Education department, 67 gazetted posts are vacant while as the vacant posts with respect to non-gazetted and class-IV categories are 496 and 106 respectively. Ninety four (94) posts in gazetted category are lying vacant in the Technical Education & Youth Services & Sports department. In the same department, 96 and 30 posts are vacant with respect to non-gazetted and class-IV categories respectively.
In the gazetted category, 24 posts are vacant in Public Works Department while as the number of vacant posts in this category in the Public Health Engineering department is 13. In the Animal and Sheep Husbandry department, 11 gazetted posts are lying vacant while as the number of vacant posts in this category in the Cooperatives department is eight.
In the Finance department, seven gazetted posts are lying vacant while as in the Agriculture department five gazetted posts are lying vacant. Four gazetted posts are lying vacant in the Information and Floriculture departments respectively. Two gazetted posts each are lying vacant in the ARI & Trainings and Social Welfare departments. One gazetted post each is lying vacant in the Forest and Labour & Employment departments.
In the non-gazetted category, 393 posts are lying vacant in the Finance department while as 107 posts are lying vacant in the Home department. In this category 104 posts are vacant in the Agriculture department. In the Technical Education & Youth Services & Sports department the number of vacant posts in non-gazetted category is 96.
In the Higher Education department, 87 non-gazetted posts are lying vacant while as 53 posts in this category are lying vacant in Industries & Commerce department. In the Revenue department, 59 non-gazetted posts are lying vacant while as the number of vacant posts in this category in the Social Welfare department is nine.
In the Power Development Department, 51 posts are vacant in the non-gazetted category while as number of vacant in this category in Forest department is 56. In the PHE department, 39 non-gazetted posts are lying vacant while as the number of vacant posts in this category in Information department is 33. In the PWD, 54 non-gazetted posts are lying vacant while as 34 non-gazetted posts are lying vacant in Animal & Sheep Husbandry department.
