NEWS DESK; As the two top positions in higher secondary part II results were bagged by Handwor in North Kashmir on Thursday, a pall of gloom descended on two other families in the same township with their wards attempting suicide over their failure in the same examination.
Two students Samiya Mushtaq (name changed) and Hafiza (name changed) were shocked after the results of 12th class were declared.
The reports maintained that Samiya was studying arts subjects and had failed in the education paper and was shocked after the declaration of the results .
“She had worked hard but the results shook her. She herself saw the results and then wanted to end her life,” her sister said.
Her family stated that she consumed some poisonous substance after she heard that she had failed in one of the subjects.
She was later shifted to the district hospital Handwor where her condition is reportedly stable. Hafiza (name changed) who hails from the same township committed suicide after learning that she had failed in Political sciences and education.
She was admitted in the district hospital Handwor that later referred her to Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Srinagar.
The family sources said that her condition is stable but she might remain under medical supervision for some days in the hospital. (KNS)
