ISLAMABAD: Former Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) prime minister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry has said that participants of the Kashmir million-march, from Trafalgar Square to the British Prime Minister’s House at 10 Downing Street in London, would present a memorandum to the British prime minister in favour of Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.In a statement issued on Saturday, he said that the Indian government showed signs of impatience when its request to British government to stop this demonstration was out-rightly rejected.
“The British government replied that freedom of speech was a fundamental right of everyone and our democratic tradition allows public meetings so how could the British government snatch this right from these demonstrators,” he added.
In this connection, Barrister Sultan visited British parliament and held meetings with deferent parliamentarians to present his stance over the Kashmir million-march.
Sultan informed them that he planned this rally to highlight the right of self-determination granted by the United Nations to the Kashmiri people. He also apprised the parliamentarians that he received threats from India.
He said that the Kashmir million-march would make history in the world, adding that many groups of demonstrators were on their way to participate in this rally.
“This march got significance as the human rights organisations and a large number of European and British MPs announced their support to the marchers,” he added.
He said that the efforts to stop the march by Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj proved useless as this march became the centre of attention for the world and would leave sound effects over Kashmir independence movement.
Barrister Sultan also announced protest on October 27 (tomorrow) before the Indian Foreign Office in Brussels and on October 29 in Paris.

Jalandhar (India) August 14 (KMS): Dal Khalsa, a prominent organisation of Sikhs, has urged the Sikh community to observe 15th August, India’s Independence Day, as Black Day.
The Dal Khala held a Conference on the subject of ‘Azaadi – the only way’ at a local gurdwara in Jalandhar to commemorate the organization’s 36th foundation day. It stressed that the struggle of Sikhs was aimed at finding a separate homeland for them. At the conclusion of the conference, hundreds of party activists carrying flags, banners and placards took to streets to convey their message.
Addressing the gathering, party head Harchranjit Singh Dhami said that 67 years ago Hindus got their independence on 15 August while Muslims got it on 14 August. He said that the Sikh Nation missed the bus as it was not lucky enough to get its own homeland. He said that since then Sikhs had been aspiring for their sovereign self-rule. He rued the torturous and humiliating journey of the last seven decades.
Giving the call to Sikhs to observe 15th August as Black Day, he said that there was no reason for Sikhs to celebrate India’s Independence Day. Rather it should be a day to pledge to reinforce our efforts to break the shackles of slavery, he added. He said that their organization was asking for the right of self-determination for the people of the state.
Taking Mohan Bhagwat, the Chief of Hindu extremist organization Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, to task for stating that the cultural identity of all Indians is Hindutva, he said, Sikhs take it as an affront to their separate distinct identity. Sikhs are not Hindus and we reiterate this loud and clear. He said that ever since the Modi Sarkar was formed, RSS had got a field day to mock and tease minorities.
Dal Khalsa spokesperson, Kanwar Pal Singh in his address welcomed the statement of Member Parliament from Telangana Rastra Samiti party, K Kavitha, and condemned the registration of a case against her under sedition laws. He echoed Kavitha’s statement that Jammu and Kashmir and Telangana were both forcefully annexed to India. He praised Kavitha for showing courage to speak truth and said that the Sikhs too were cheated by the Indian leadership.

News Desk (KNS): Achieving yet another milestone in the cyber world, Kashmir’s youth have launched a satire type news website wherein the vital news stories pertaining to the masses here are covered in the humorous format.
According to the reports received by Kashmir News Service (KNS), Kashmir’s youth have found this novel site interesting and the links are already being shared in the social networking sites. According to the site owners, the information in the site is nothing sans fiction and that it is being pretended to be a news site, a format perfected by the leading satire websites globally like the Onion.
The stories covered by the site include ‘Government bans Kehwa to curb sexual assaults’, ‘PDP to replace party symbol with finger’ and ‘Now Geelani to donate lal chowk’. The site owners stated,”We try to remain sensitive to the sensitivities of the people. We know people are always ready to jump the gun, so we tread the path of carefulness,”

They maintain further that Kashmir has a rich tradition of satire, in arts as well as everyday life. Centuries of oppression gave birth to Bhand Pather, a popular folk drama, which ironically is on life support these days. So we are doing nothing new, only using this spirit through a modern medium. Satire websites are fairly common in today’s world, but as we know (and to our best knowledge we are not joking), Kashmir has been missing one. As we had nothing worth to do, we became a willing clown. The sites of such format have already been encouraged at National level and faking news is one such example wherein the matters related to politics are being analyzed in the satirical format. (KNS)
