SHOPIAN; The residents have complained of growing waywardness in Tak mohalla area of Shopian town even as they accused the police of sleeping over the issue.

According to locals, it has become diffcult for female students to go school as dozens of roadside romeos have made this road out of use for students of Government Girls Higher Secondary School.

 “Amid police inaction against the miscreants indulging in daylight waywardness” in and around coaching centres which are situated in this locality, the residents have urged the authorities to “sensitise the police about the deteriorating situation before it gets out of hands.”

 A local shopkeeper Rouf Ahmad said “police is shutting eyes to the growing incidents of waywardness.”

Top coaching centres and schools of the town are in this locality. Locals have also blamed students of these coaching centres.



SRINAGAR; Senior leaders of the recently formed third front of Hurriyat, Hurriyat Conference Jammu Kashmir, were detained Friday by police to prevent them from visiting South Kashmir's volatile Shopian town.

According to a statement issued to Kashmir Informer, "A large contingent of Police on Friday arrested senior leaders of Hurriyat Conference-JK Shabir Ahmed Shah, Nayeem Khan, Shabir Dar, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Muhammad Yaseen Ataee, Aijaz Ahmed Mir and dozens of party activists while they were heading towards South Kashmir's Shopian district to continue their election boycott campaign."

SRINAGAR; Protests were held in parts of Kashmir against the death sentence to 529 Morsi supporters by an Egyptian court on Monday.
Peaceful protest in Shopian 

According to reports, peaceful protests were held in South Kashmir's Shopian district after Friday prayers. Chanting pro-islamic slogans, the protesters marched through the streets of main town. The protesters alleged that it is a miscarrage of justice. They also said that it is the policy of the anti-muslim elements to kill more and more muslims throughout the world.

A protester Zakir-ul-Islam said, "This is a disturbing verdict that infringed all laws, regulations, as well as the constitution of all countries. It is a reckless verdict that was borne from anger."

Protests were also reported in Palhalan and Old town Baramulla.

According to eye-witnesses, soon after Friday prayers youth took out a procession near Bus Stand Baramulla which was intercepted by Police. Forces lobbed teargas shells to disperse the protestors who later assembled at Jamia Bridge Baramulla & pelted stones on forces triggering clashes. In the clashes two policemen sustained injuroes.

Groups of youths indulged in stone-pelting on police deployment at Khanpora in Baramulla district after Friday prayers injuring a sub-inspector and a cop, a police spokesman said.

In Palhalan, youth took out a procession and pelted stones on forces who retaliated by lobbing canisters. Ding-dong battles continues till the last reports were recieved.

The call for holding peaceful protests was given by the veteran hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani to support muslim brotherhood.

Pertinently, 529 Morsi supporters were sentenced to death for the murder of a single policeman, in a mass trial that lasted less than two days. The defendants were sentenced in Minya, a southern city that was hardest hit by a spasm of anti-state and sectarian violence that erupted across Egypt last August. Mobs thought to be sympathetic to Morsi attacked dozens of churches and police stations in revenge for the state's brutal clearance of a pro-Morsi protest camp in Cairo.

Amnesty International described the news as "injustice writ large", and said it was the largest single batch of death sentences it had seen anywhere in the world in recent memory
SHOPIAN; The one-man commission probing Gagren killings in south Kashmir’s Shopian town at the hands of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Thursday recorded the statement of a CRPF witness at Circuit House in Shopian.

Retired Justice ML Koul told that the statement of only one witness on behalf of CRPF could be recorded on Thursday because their team reached late for the reason that there was road blockades and water logging in Pulwama area at some places.

He said other witnesses have been asked to record their statements on March 15.

Justice Koul said the commission directed the counsel for CRPF to ascertain and collect the FIR’s and PSA reports from the district police regarding the involvement or credentials of all the deceased youth killed in CRPF firing.

“The said counsel for CRPF shall see that such documents are made available within ten days.

“We are also summoning previous SHO Inspector Irshad Ahmed who at present posted as SHO Kulgam on March 15 and have asked him to search important records from police station Shopian pertaining to the killing the Gagren youth.
SHOPIAN; The one-man commission setup by state government to probe the killings of four civilians in Gagrin, Shopian allegedly by CRPF personnel has impressed upon the Superintendent of Police Shopian to depute a police officer to Chandigarh to collect the expert opinion from Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) Chandigarh.

According to CNS, retired Justice M. L. Koul heading the one-man commission said that on perusal of the record it is found that the FSL report has not so far been filed by the respondents and it is impressed upon them to see that it is collected and filed before the Commission.

“It is impressed upon the SP Shopian that he should depute one police officer namely Inspector Jan Muzaffar who is connected with the investigation to Chandigarh to collect the expert opinion from CFSL Chandigarh. Also, the mobile phones which have been sent for expert opinion are brought back immediately with the opinion of the concerned authority,” Justice said.

He said that the Chief Prosecuting Officer (CPO) representing the Civil Administration stated before the Commission that that the mobile phones (of the slain youth) have been sent by police in December 2013 to Chandigarh to get the expert opinion about these phones. He added that inquiry is getting delayed as the expert opinion has not been collected so far.

He further said that one petitioner Adil Wachkoo has submitted two Photostat copies of the medical opinion and therefore two doctors who had issued these certificates and reports are required to be examined by the Commission and cross-examined by the opposite side. “The Commission has directed both the doctors as well as Adil Wachkoo to appear before the Commission on March 10 this month in Circuit House, Shopian to record their statements,” Koul said.

The Counsel for Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has already appeared before the Commission while one of the petitioners Ghulam Nabi Mir did not record his statement on account of his poor health. (CNS)
Shopian/Pulwama: Army was forced to resort to aerial firing in South Kashmir’s Naira Tahab area of Pulwama town on Saturday when people pelted stones on them after a column of 55 RR tried to cordon off a particular part of Naira hamlet.

Sources told CNS that after receiving inputs about the presence of militants in Naira area of Pulwama district, Army personnel from 55 RR cordoned off Masjid Mohalla of the said hamlet. Eyewitnesses said that as the Army personnel were busy in cordoning the area, scores of people including youth staged a massive protest against them and resorted heavy stone pelting on them.

“In order to disperse the protestors, Army personnel fired several shots in air which created panic in the area. The aerial firing continued for several minutes while people ran for cover. Even after aerial firing, the protestors regrouped themselves and continued to pelt stones on Army,” an eyewitness told CNS.

Reports said soon after the incident, Army sought reinforcement and more troopers reached in the area. The Army despite facing resistance from people cordoned off the area. Eyewitnesses said that Army did not find anything and the cordon was lifted after thorough search operation.

A Defense spokesperson told CNS that he would try to find out what actually has happened.

Meanwhile, complete shutdown was observed in Shopian for the second day against the killing of two Hizb militants. All the shops and business establishments remained closed while transport was off the roads. Reports said that hundreds of people visited to the houses of slain militants to express solidarity with their families. (CNS)
SHOPIAN; A complete shutdown was observed in South Kashmir’s Shopian district against the killing of two Hizb militants in Gagloora area of Pinjora Shopian in an encounter with Government Forces on Thursday.

As reported earlier, soon after the encounter hundreds of people assembled in Imam Sahib and Vehil Shopian after the killing of two local militants. Protestors clashed with Government Forces while during the clashes at least 18 people were injured. Three of the injured were referred to SKIMS.

Police had blocked road near Bonar to stop people from moving towards Shopian, however, reports said that hundreds of people participated in the last rites of militants. Amid pro-freedom slogans the slain militants were laid to rest in their respective ancestral graveyards.

Eyewitnesses told Kashmir Informer that soon after Friday prayers, protests broke out in Shopian while scores of youth attacked Court Complex Shopian where police and CRPF personnel are deployed in large numbers. Police resorted to teargas shelling to disperse the protestors. Reports said that the clashes between protestors and police continued for hours.
                                                     
All the shops and business establishments remained closed in the town while transport was off the roads. Large contingent of police and Para-military troopers were deployed in the town to thwart possible protests.

A police official told  that some youth tried to disrupt the peace in the town by pelting stones on the police, however, police exercised maximum restraint and dispersed them. He said the situation in the town was peaceful.

Pertinently, two Hizbul Mujahideen militants, Abid Ahmad of Vehil Shopian
Arshad Hussain Sheikh of  Heripora Imamsahib . were killed during an encounter in Shopian district of south Kashmir on Thursday.
