Class 10th Results; Presentation Convent secured 50 Positions
Srinagar, Dec 28: 5 Students Top With 500/500; 28 Share First Three Positions. About 66 percent students qualified the class 10 examination in the Valley, results for which were declared by the Board of School Education (BOSE) on Wednesday. Joint Secretary (Examination) BOSE, Abdul Hameed Kanth, said 50685 students, including 27475 boys and 23210 girls, appeared in the examination conducted in October this year.
“Out of them 29280 have qualified, including 19064 boys and 14418 girls, while 17292 candidates failed to clear the examination,” he said, adding that 4238 candidates have failed to clear one subject.
“The candidates who have been shown in the ‘need to improve’ category have failed to clear one subject,” he said.
Kanth further said overall pass percentage is 66.13 with boys’ percentage pegged at 69.39 and girls’ at 62.12.
The first three positions have been shared by 28 candidates with difference of only one mark between the positions, while 457 students have made it to the merit list of top 20 ranks.
Naseer Ahmad Rather (Sidra Institute of Education Islamabad, Anantnag), Khayrul Nisa (SAMIE Beerwah), Amir Mustafa (Tyndale Biscoe School Srinagar), Hafsa Haroon (Presentation Convent Higher Secondary School Rajbagh) and Khubaan Jamshed, who shared the first position have secured 500 out of 500 marks. Pertinently, it is for the first time candidates appearing in the BOSE examination have secured cent percent marks.
The second position has been bagged by Afnan Showkat, Anies ul Amin, Faarikh Rashid, Andleeb Fida, Haiqaah Suhail, Kifa Peerzada, Saba Farooq Khan, Amaar Tariq and Rutbaa Ishfaq securing 499 marks each.
The third position has been bagged by Samia Malik, Malik Shujat Mushtaq, Burooj Iqbal Shah, Malik Abdul Basit, Aiman Sahreen, Farukh Masoodi, Ifrah Shafeeq Qadri, Maryam Ayub Bacha, Afshan Zargar, Mansha Mir, Rutba Mufti, Sidra Zaheera, Lyluma Ishfaq and Shifa Shafat with 498 marks each.
The pass percentage is highest in Urdu and Hindi subjects and lowest in Mathematics. Two students from Government schools figure in the top five.
Aadil Abdullah son of Muhammad Abdullah of Government higher secondary school Vilgam Kupwara secured fourth position by securing 497 marks. Syed Zeeshan Nisar of Government boys high school Lajurah bagged fifth position by fetching 496 marks.
A police spokesman said Aaliya Shafi daughter of Muhammad Shafi Ganai of Police Public School Bemina bagged 11th position. He said 43 students of Police Public School secured distinctions and 48 grade first.
Presentation Convent Higher Secondary School authorities said that their educational institute has secured more than 50 positions. “This was due to strenuous efforts put in by the teaching and non-teaching staff,” they said.
