PDP & Others creates uproar in Assembly
JAMMU; Mar 05: Legislators of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) created uproar in the Assembly on Monday
when Speaker Muhammad Akbar Lone announced that some members had met him in the morning and will put forth their issues. This infuriated PDP members and they objected to it. “This means whoever meets you in the morning he will be allowed to speak and others cannot,” PDP members shouted and assembled in the Well. Uproar continued for nearly 15 minutes.
Amid noisy scenes, Opposition PDP, BJP, JKNPP and Jammu State Morcha members walked out of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly several times over various issues.
As Minister for Rural Development Ali Mohammad Sagar replied to Leader of the Opposition Mehbooba Mufti's query, PDP members interrupted him.
They alleged the state government had failed to undertake beautification work of river Jehlum in Srinagar.
Sagar accused the previous previous PDP government of not undertaking the work.
The PDP members, who were locked in verbal duels with Sagar, walked out of the House.
BJP, JKNPP and JSM staged a walkout over the issue of grant of ownership rights to occupants of custodian department houses in Jammu and Kashmir.
PDP members trooped into the Well after Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone granted time to a few members to raise important issues related to their constituencies.
They demanded equal treatment for all.
The Speaker granted them time and they returned to their seats after a few minutes.
