Police arrested 2 Roadside Romeos

SRINAGAR; Mar 05: Continuing its drive against the eve teasers and road Romeo’s, Police arrested two youth who were found stalking some college girls in old City on Monday.

Police said there were frequent complaints from locals that some youth were indulging in immoral activities. “Acting on a tip-off, our team today rushed to Islamia College and found two youth stalking girls and passing indecent remarks at them near the college gate,” said a Police officer, adding they have swung in action to curb the menace in the area.

Police said Arif Bhat alias Pathan son of Ghulam Ahmad Bhat of Hakka Bazar and Yasir Maqbool son of Muhammad Maqbool Dar of Alamgari Bazar Hawal were arrested and sent to Central Jail.
Talking to KMR Correspondent, SDPO Khanyar, Tahir Saleem confirmed the incident and said they have started a special drive to eradicate the nuisance which has become an annoying experience for locals particularly the girl students of the area. “We were receiving complaints against Arif Bhat alias Pathan earlier also as he was continuously harassing a girl from Tibetan Colony Nowhatta and even troubled the family on the day the girl got married. Finally we arrested him.”
He appealed people that they should not hesitate to lodge complaints, if any, so that such incidents are discouraged. “Police station Nowhatta is open for complaints of crime against women; even we can take action on phone call,” he said.
