Police arrested 100 Agricultural Technocrats
JAMMU; Mar 05: Police today foiled protesting agricultural technocrats' march to Civil Secretariat and arrested over 100 protestors during their 'jail bharo' programme in this winter capital of the state.
Agitating Technocrats were demanding regularisation on the pattern of Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReTs) and they were also assured in the last Budget (March 2011) session that all the ad-hoc basis agricultural technocrats would be regularised and appointed as JAEO.
Carrying placards and banners, hundreds of agricultural technocrats this morning took out a protest rally towards the Civil Secretariat as a part of their 'jail bharo' programme.
Technocrats were recruited as Rebar-e-Ziarat (ReZs) were demanding regularisation.
Amid anti-government slogans, the protestors started the protest rally from outside the Press Club but heavy deployment of police restricted them from proceeding.
Over 100 ReZs were taken into custody under preventive measures and they were shifted to the District Police Line.
Earlier addressing the demonstrators, one of the leaders of Jammu and Kashmir Agricultural Technocrats Association (JKATA) said the government is intentionally not considering their genuine demand.
He said since 1996 no recruitment was held in APD and allied sector and since their appointment no concrete policy has been framed.
