Al-Qaeda Muajhideen formed by 2 Youths of Shopian
SHOPIAN; 13, Aug 2012: The 'mujahideen group' calling itself ‘Lashkar Al Qaida’ and ‘Al Qaida Mujahideen’ that put up handwritten posters in some areas of Shopian threatening women with acid attacks if they were found without 'Pardah' or carrying a cellphone does not have any link with any organisation.
The police say the poster is actually the handiwork of two school dropouts with no mujahideen links, Waseem Ah Malla from Hadipora village and Arshad Ahmad of Pahlipora village in Shopian, who had snacthed two SLR rifles from a police post in May earlier this year.
Deputy Inspector General of Police, South Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said: “They had stolen SLR rifles from a police post in May. They have written these handwritten posters and even given one to a sarpanch.”
Kumar added that “We have inputs that Waseem may have been an OGW (overground worker) earlier. Other than that, these two have no links with any party”
The posters had appeared at a few places in Shopian and though the group called itself ‘Lashkar Al Qaida’, the stamp on the posters said ‘Al Qaida Mujahideen’.
In grammatically incorrect Urdu, the posters warned panchs and sarpanchs to resign within a week or they and their family would be killed. The posters also “appealed” to people “not to send their women or girls out without veil”.
In July 2012, they attacked on a Sarpanch but due to mistake the bullets hit the younger brother of teh Sarpanch namely Ab Rafi Malla of Pehlipora Shopian.
Following which SoG personnels tortured the families of both the youth, Sources even said that SoG personnels mixed Kerosene Oil with rice and other food items that was stored in their homes.
Indian Army in Shopian has also announced reward of Rupees One Lac for giving the information about the duo.
Various search operations have been conducted in various areas of Shopian in the month of Ramadan to nab the both guys however everytime Indian forces met with a defeat.
