Girl gets caught in concertina wire of CRPF Bunker

SRINAGAR; 11, Aug 2012: A 10-year old girl of Wazir Bagh here sustained head injuries after getting caught in concertina wire near a CRPF bunker Thursday evening.
Eyewitnesses said at 6: 30 pm on Thursday, Muskaan Latief was caught in the concertina wire after dogs barked at her. “She tried to escape but found herself in the concertina wire. When she stood up, blood dropped off her head. She was unconscious,” said a shopkeeper.
Muskaan told that she was coming back home after taking Quran lessons. “When I was crossing beside the bunker to my house alley, dogs in tens barked at me. I was nervous and got caught in the wire,” she said. Muskaan received 10 stitches on her head.
Muskan’s father Latief Ahmad said the houses in Wazir Bagh have been caged and there seems no entry or exit for the residents. “I asked the concerned CRPF officer in the bunker why they have laid such a dangerous wire on road, he replied it was a security measure. If it is the security measure then it should not be there at the cost of children’s lives,” he said.
Locals of Wazir Bagh said such incidents have been taking place often in the locality. “The concertina wire is so dangerously laid that in past many kids were caught in it and sustained injuries. Last week a seven year old was caught in it,” said Abdul Gaffar, a local resident.
“On one hand our children are being terrified by dogs while as on the other these concertina wires almost take their lives,” he said.
