Restrictions on Traffic in Srinagar from Tomorrow

SRINAGAR; 13, Aug 2012: Traffic Police Srinagar has made elaborate arrangements to discourage traffic gridlocks along Residency Road and M.A Road stretches which otherwise puts the common man to a lot of inconvenience as the whole area gets converted into a shoppers paradise.

Vehicle Free Zone: 

No Passenger vehicle shall be allowed to ply on Residency Road from Radio Kashmir to Hari Singh High Street on one side and along Moulana Azad Road from SRTC Crossing to Jehangir Chowk on the other side except Emergency and on duty vehicles. Restrictions shall remain in force from 14.08.2012 to Eid-ul-Fitr.

Diversions: 

No 407 vehicle will be allowed on Residency Road and Moulana Azad Road from 14.08.2012. The vehicles who have to move on Residency Road will now be diverted via Abdullah bridge e, Rajbagh, Lal Mandi, Shargari, Exhibition. The vehicles who have to move from Batmaloo towards MA Road shall be diverted at Jehangir Chowk, Old Secretariat, Tankipora, Habbakadal, Barbar Shah, Baba Dharam Das route and at Maisuma interior.At Baba Dharam Das, vehicles bound for Hazaratbal and Soura shall take left turn and vehicles bound for Nishat, Shalimar shall proceed towards Kohankhan Dalgate-Badyari chowk and onwards.

The general public is requested to pool in their vehicles so that the load on the city roads is reduced.

The shopkeepers will not be allowed to park their vehicles infront of their shops. However, they can use the parking space in the nearby parking slots.

The customers can utilize the parking space at Polo Ground, parking area near Khalisa High School, Sheikh Bagh Srinagar., Polo View Parking , Press colony, Sangarmal Parking, Old KMD Adda, Space between indoor and Bakshi Stadium, TRC Ground.

Single lane parking will be allowed on MA Road, Residency Road and at Lal Chowk. The customers can also park their vehicles in the earmarked yellow double lines available in city.
