SRINAGAR; 24, Aug 2012: A police constable of IRP Bn II who was performing his duty of guarding Jamia Masjid, Srinagar from the rear was attacked by unidentified persons. They hit the constable on head with some unknown thing. He fell unconscious. The unidentified attackers fled away after taking the service rifle of the injured constable with him.

However some intelligence sleuths chased attackers at Bhori Kadal. The fleeing persons were overpowered and the Insas rifle was recovered from them. Police also seized a Chinese pistol and four rounds. However, the attackers fled from the spot”, the statement added
