Ansari arrives in J&K for five-day visit
SRINAGAR; 14, Sep 2012: Indian Vice president Hamid Ansari on Friday arrived here on a five-day visit during which he will hold interactions with governor NN Vohra, chief minister Omar Abdullah, and attend a function at the University of Kashmir.
Ansari was received at the Srinagar Technical Airport by Vohra , Omar and other senior officials of the civil administration and police. He later flew by a chopper to Raj Bhawan, said official sources.
This is Ansari's first visit to Kashmir since his re-election as vice president of the India last month.
Omar is scheduled to call on Ansari this evening while Vohra will host Ansari at Raj Bhawan during his stay in the summer capital of the state, the sources said.
Ansari will visit Pahalgam tourist resort in south Kashmir on Saturday for an overnight stay while he will visit Dachigam National Park in the outskirts of the city on his return here on Sunday, they said.
The Indian Vice President will be the chief guest at the National Science Congress organised at Kashmir University on Monday, the sources added.
