Ganderbal Encounter: 1 Mujahid Martyred
GANDERBAL; 01 Sep 2012: The Indian forces Saturday pressed in choppers during an ongoing gunfight in Central Kashmir forests in which one mujahideen has been martyred so far, sources said, adding at least four mujahideens are believed to be holed up in a natural cave. An Unidentified mujahid was killed in a fierce gunfight that broke out in a forest area in Central Kashmir's Ganderbal during the intervening night, an official said here, adding, 'the exchange of fire had stopped but the search operation was on'.

Sources said a group of five to six mujahideens have crossed over from neighbouring Bandipora.
The gunfight started in the Chaturgul forests, about 18 kilometres from the district centre, after government forces received a tip-off about the presence of some mujahideens.
"The joint operation is being led by the Ganderbal Special Operation Group of the Indian police and Indian army's 24 and 5 Rashtriya rifles," sources say, "adding, choppers are being used to track them" Superintendent of Police, Ganderbal, revealed that the mujahideens were spotted at very high
altitude and firing is still on.
