Fake Currency racket busted in Kupwara
KUPWARA; 21, April 2013: Police have booked three persons, including two cops, on the charges of running a fake currency racket in this frontier district. A Police official said a police constable Javid Ahmad Mir of Sayin Rafiabad, a Special Police Officer Tanveer Bhat of Keran and ReT teacher Showket Ahmad Lohar were arrested from a local hotel at Hajaj market here and counterfeit currency notes worth Rs 45000 Indian currency were recovered from their possession.

He said an FIR NO. 77/13 under section 489-B has been registered against them and further investigations are on. The officer said the arrest of the trio is a tip of the ice berg and more arrests are likely to be made in future. The DIG, North Kashmir, JP Singh while talking to media said, "Investigations have revealed that fake currency notes had come from PaK via Keran area."
