Police Constable suspended for smashing window panes of a vehicle
ISLAMABAD (Ang); 21, April 2013: A constable of Jammu and Kashmir Police was suspended in South Kashmir’s Islamabad district after he allegedly smashed the window panes of a private Santro car injuring a newborn and his mother critically.
According to reports, Bilal Ahmed Gaada was carrying her wife Kounsar Jan home after she was discharged from the Al-Hayat Hospital after giving birth to a baby boy.
“As soon as I reached Janglat-Mandi, there was traffic jam and I was trying to find a way for my vehicle to park it at a convenient place. Suddenly a police constable smashed the hind window panes of my Santro (JK03-4029) that left my wife and newly born child injured. People while seeing the new born injured assembled there and raised anti-police slogans,” Bilal Ahmed told.
People raised anti-police slogans and blocked the road demanding stern action against the hooliganism of police. Assistant Commissioner of Police and DySp HQ arrived on the spot and tried to pacify the protestors, however they didn’t budge and demanded the suspension of the constable involved in the act.
After four hours of traffic jam, Additional Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Ghulam Mohmammad Dar arrived on spot and assured strict action against the police constable. After the assurance given by the ADC, Islamabad protestors dispersed peacefully and traffic was restored.
Station House Officer, Islamabad, Ashfaq Aalam told that the erring constable, Mohammad Ayoub (1775A) has been put under suspension till further orders and an inquiry committee has been constituted to probe the matter.
