Protests in Noorbagh; Youth pushed from Terrace by JKP Personnel

SRINAGAR; 21, July 2013: Protests and stone-pelting reports were recieved from Noorbagh area of Srinagar city today.


One youth, Jan Muhammad Khanday from Noorbagh was critically injured on Friday after he was allegedly beaten by the Indian forces.

 According to the eye witness, Jan Muhammad was beaten by Indian forces while they were chasing the protestors. “He was not part of protests. He was beaten ruthlessly by many policemen along with DO Noorbagh, Abdul Rasheed”, eye witness said.

Reportedly, Jan Muhammad ran-away from the spot and took shield in a nearby house. “He was caught by police again and beaten so much that his ears bled. They beat him with gun butts”, another eye witness said.

Later, as he ran upstairs in the house, he was again beaten by DO Noorbagh and another policeman. “He was pushed from the terrace, resulting serious injuries in his spinal cord and head”.

The family said that Jan Muhammad was still in critical condition and battling for his life. “His has clot in his brain”, family ofJan Muhammad said.

Jan Muhammad was then referred to SKIMS for treatment where doctors termed his condition as critical.
When contacted DO Noorbagh, Abdul Rasheed, he refused to comment on this incident.
