3 injured in Clashes on Youm-ul-Quds Day

SRINAGAR; 02, Aug 2013: Three persons were injured in clashes that broke out in Nowhatta area of Srinagar on Youm-ul-Quds Day. The call to observe today as Youm-ul-Quds in solidarity with Palestine and Kashmir was given by Hurriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani.


Protests erupted in historical Jamia Masjid Srinagar after the Friday prayers, Police swung into action and lobbed pellets to disperse the protesters, resulting in injuries to three persons including a woman. The woman has been identified as Shameema, a resident of Nowhatta, she was rushed to a nearby hospital. Another boy among the injured, recieved pellet injuries in his eye and has been admitted in a nearby Hospital.

In Rainawari area of Srinagar, Protesters torched Israel flag as a mark of protest against the Israeli occupation on Palestine. Similarly Israeli flags were burned down in Abi Guzar area of Lal Chowk Srinagar.

Protests were also reported from some other parts of the valley including Sadrabal and Hazratbal area of Srinagar, Hajan, Charar-e-Sheriff etc.
