Indian Army rescued Czech couple stuck in Kishtwar

KISHTWAR; 14, Aug 2013: Indian Army on Wednesday came to the rescue of a Czech couple stuck in curfew-bound Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir since August 8.

The couple, Aleshilik and his wife Marketa, was taken to Jammu in an Indian Army vehicle this morning.

"We had sought help from police, district administration and the Chief Minister, but there was no response," Aleshilik said.

Aleshilik and his wife were preparing for a trekking expedition for Dacchan and Paddar areas and to Zanaskar belt of Ladakh, when communal violence broke out in Kishtwar and curfew was imposed, leaving them stranded in a hotel in the town.

The couple will leave for New Delhi from Jammu in the evening.
