Friday Prayers Offered in Shopian Mosques after 2 Weeks
SHOPIAN; 27, Sep 2013: Friday Prayers were offered in Mosques of Shopian town today after 2 weeks. Pertinently, 5 people were killed in Gagren are of the town earlier this month due to which authorities imposed a curfew, which remained in force for 15 days. Authorities lifted curfew from the area on 22nd of September.
Although, the town is observing a straight shutdown today on 22nd Day since the killings took place, hundreds of people throng to mosques to offer Congregational Friday prayers.
A local Mushtaq Ahmad from an adjourning village said, “I regularly offer Friday prayers at Jamiat-e-Ahlihadith masjid in Tak mohalla Shopian, due to curfew in past weeks I missed it but today once again I offered the prayers."
