Geelani Detained. Protests broke out in Hyderpora
SRINAGAR; 18, Sep 2013: The veteran Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani was arrested by police after he tried to defy restrictions to march towards United Nations Military Office in Sonwar Srinagar.

As per reports, A peaceful procession was heading towards Hurriyat's office in Hyderpora. Syed Geelani was arrested as soon as he stepped out from his residence. He was shifted to Police station Humhama. Police resorted to tear-gas shelling on the peaceful procession to chase away the protesters.
Earlier Government imposed restrictions in and around UN Office in Sonwar Srinagar. The deployment around Geelani's residence was increased last night.
Veteran Hurriyat Leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani has called for 'UNO Chalo today' to present a memorandum to the United Nations to implement the UN resolutions in Kashmir.
Meanwhile, other top Hurriyat leaders including Hurriyat (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, JKLF chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik, DFP Chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai and Nayeem Ahmad Khan were placed under house-arrest.
