Seven Arrested during Old City clash
SRINAGAR: 21, SEP 2013: At
least seven youth were detained after government forces ‘laid a trap’
during minor clashes in Old City’s Nawab Bazar area, residents said on
Saturday.
Residents told that some youth
were hurling stones on a Central Reserve Police Force camp. “Police in
armoured vehicles, in order to nab them, surrounded them and bundled
them,” they said. ...
The identity of the youth was not known yet. The police action created panic in the area, witnesses said.
Meanwhile, reports from Baramulla said that clashes broke out between
youth and government forces on the two bridges of the town.
In
neighbouring Bandipora, locals alleged that army went berserk and
thrashed people. The town witnessed stone-throwing clashes, reports
said.
