Encounter Rages in Srinagar; 8 Cops Injured
SRINAGAR; 02, Oct 2013: Three cops were injured in an encounter that broke out between suspected militants and joint team of Special Operation Group of police (SOG) and CRPF in Outskirt’s of Srinagar city late Wednesday evening.
“On a tip-off about militant presence, Special Operation Group of Police (SOG) and CRPF cordoned off the Ahmed Nagar area of Baspora in Srinagar district late this evening and launched searches,” Official sources told.
During the initial gunfight a PSO, Ashiq Hussain of Hazratbal Police Station sustain bullet injuries and he has been hospitalized, sources said.
Along with Ashiq, two more police personnel were injured whose identity was yet to be ascertained.
The encounter was going on with reports of exchange of heavy gunfire when the reports last came in...
