NHW Update: Traffic to Ply from Jammu towards Kashmir Tomorrow
SRINAGAR; As per our previous post regarding road strip for 09/01/2014, the traffic is scheduled to ply from Jammu to Srinagar on 09/01/2014. However, in view of prevailing weather conditions and the fact that it is snowing at various places on NHW-1A especially at Patnitop and Banihal, the passengers intending to travel towards Srinagar from Jammu are requested not to start their journey towards Srinagar tomorrow without confirming the road status from TCU Jammu on phone no.’s 0191-2459048 and 9419147732. However, no movement of traffic will be allowed tomorrow from Srinagar towards Jammu
PREVIOUS NOTIFICATION:
As intimated by Traffic Department, Subject to fair weather condition and good condition of road, the vehicles viz. Private LMV’s, Commercial LMV’s, LCV’s, Medium passenger as well as commercial vehicles including Buses (except double decker sleeper coaches) heavy commercial vehicles (except trailers/ multi-axle vehicles) would be allowed to travel from Jammu side towards Kashmir in a regulated manner.
All kinds of above-mentioned passenger vehicles (valley bound) shall cross tcp nagrota upto 0900 hours, tcp udhampur upto 1100 hours and banihal upto 1630 hours only (.) No psv (as above) shall be allowed to proceed beyond banihal after the abovementioned cut off time (.) Beyond the (abovementioned) cut-off time, the lmvs, if any shall return to their respective places
the load carriers (as mentioned above) bound for valley (from jammu side) shall cross TCP Nagrota upto 0800 hours,TCP Udhampur upto 1030 hours and Chanderkote upto 1400 hours only. No load carrier shall be allowed to cross the abovementioned places/ tcps beyond the prescribed cut off timing, in any case. Beyond the cut-off time, lmv’s, psv’s etc. If any shall return to their respective places and heavy vehicles shall be parked in an orderly manner at suitable places where there is no apprehension of traffic jamming.
No vehicle, whatsoever, shall be allowed to cross any of the abovementioned places/tcps beyond the prescribed cut of time, in any case (.) Beyond the cut-off time, lmv’s, psv’s etc. If any shall return to their respective places and heavy vehicles shall be parked in an orderly manner at suitable places where there is no apprehension of traffic jamming (.)
In case of bad weather, the decision regarding movement of the traffic or otherwise on nhw shall be taken by the concerned ssp traffic, on the spot, as per the situation (.) However, in order to ensure safety/security of drivers/passengers, no vehicle especially psvs be stranded/parked in avalanche/ slide prone zones/ areas of nhw.
No movement of trailers/multi-axle vehicles and double decker (sleeper coach) buses would be allowed on nhw-1a on 09.01.2014 (.) Moreover, no traffic movement whatsoever shall be allowed from valley side towards jammu during this perod (.) Moreover, no load carrier carrying excess/over load shall be allowed to ply on srinagar-jammu nhw (.)
