SRINAGAR; The running of fake Sports Associations in the State continues as the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council which is the prime controlling body of sports activities in the state shows helplessness in curbing these associations.


Each and every day we find new sports associations in the state which are neither recognized with the Jammu and Kashmir state sports council nor having any Federation at the central level and not recognized with Indian Olympic Association (IOA).

“From one corner we see increasing sports infrastructure in the state and from other side we see number of fake sports associations running in the state which dupe us economically by charging us ten to fifteen thousand rupees for the one national level championship and in addition those certificates do not provide us any benefit as they are not recognized with the sports council”, said by known sports person wishing not to be named.

When contacted Chief Sports Officer of the State Sports Council M.S. Baba he said, “Yes there are number of unrecognized sports associations running in our state and the office holders of such sports associations are doing just DANDA (business) in the name of sports and took our talented children for a ride and parents are equally responsible for the sufferings of their children by not enquiring about the genuineness of the game with sports council”.

“Why not people come to us to know the recognition of the game with which their wards are associated”, he added.

When asked why not sports council took strict do steps to curb such associations, Baba said “If we try to curb them, they may answer that we are doing it for recreation or fitness purpose and I request parents to know the recognition of the game and also approach crime branch against fake sports associations”.

It should be mentioned here that recently State Sports Council suspends six games for not following the constitution of the Sports Council.
