Man Fakes His Own Kidnapping to Avoid Marriage

PULWAMA; A man in South Kashmir faked his kidnapping with the help of his brother and friends to avoid marrying to a girl against his will, a police official said on Wednesday.

Police received a complaint from Arshid Ahmad Magray was kidnapped on gunpoint from his house in Pulwama’s Rajpora after unknown men barged into his house intervening night of February 21 and 22, this year.

Arshid’s brother, Shahmeem Ahmad Magray, lodged a complaint with the police who began to investigate.

During course of investigation Arshid was traced from Wathoo and it was found that he was engaged with a girl against his will, the officer said.

Arshid staged the drama of abduction with the help of Shahmeem and his friends Ferooz Ahmad Mir son of Mohammad Ismal resident of Qasbayar, Fayaz Ahmad Shah son of Ghulam Nabi Shah resident of Mashwara , Javid Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Gani Dar resident of Karl check, Ashiq Hussain Shah son of Ghulam Rasool Shah resident of Mashwar

His brother and friends pretended to be militants entered in the house of alleged abducted during night and took Arshid along with them in a car, he said.

This was done to give an impression that the girl to whom he was engaged is having affairs with somebody else, who with the help of unknown gunmen has kidnapped him.

Police will take action under law against the people involved in staging this fake abduction, he added.
