RTI Activist to Challenge Farooq Abdullah from Srinagar

SRINAGAR Feb 27 : National Conference president and Union Minister Farooq Abdullah will be challenged in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections on his home turf by RTI activist Raja Muzaffar Bhat who is among 50 candidates announced by Aam Admi Party today.

Bhat is first candidate to have been officially nominated by AAP from Jammu and Kashmir. With AAP getting into the space occupied by  traditional political parties, Bhat contesting against NC patriarch will throw up an interesting fight for Srinagar parliamentary seat. Bhat had joined PDP in 2012 but he later quit the party as well as politics following the exception of Afzal Guru last year.

Farooq is currently MP from Srinagar constituency.
