Baramulla Shuts on Tahir Sofi's 1st Death Anniversary
BARAMULLA; Life was affected today in Baramulla district due to a complete shutdown on the first death anniversary of a youth, allegedly killed by Indian forces last year.
Shops and business establishments remained closed and traffic was off the roads. However, some private vehicles were seen plying on some routes.The Srinagar-Baramulla-Uri highway was also open.
Work in government offices, banks and other financial institutions besides educational institutions, which reopened recently after winter vacation, was affected.
Additional security forces had been deployed in the town, particularly on bridges, connecting old town with civil lines.
On this day last year one Tahir Rasool Sofi (27) of old town Baramulla was killed allegedly at Khanpora Bridge by Indian Army.
