Curfew Continues in Parts of North Kashmir on Fourth Straight Day

SRINAGAR; Curfew continued for the fourth day today in parts of north Kashmir district of Bandipora, following death of youth in alleged police firing on pro freedom demonstrators on friday.
Security forces and state police personnel remained deployed in Bandipora, Hajin and Naidkhai, where stone pelting incidents were reported yesterday.

People alleged that they were not being allowed to move out of their houses by the security forces and state police personnel deployed in strength.

“We are now facing acute shortage of essentials, particularly milk, bread and vegetables,” they said.
However, curfew restrictions continued as today was the fourth day fateha of Farhat.

The government has already ordered magisterial inquiry into the incident and appointed Additional Deputy Commission, Bandipora, to investigate the incident. However, separatist organisation have rejected the inquiry and alleged that it was yet another attempt to shield those responsible for cold blood murder of a youth.

Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Shalinder Kumar however, said magisterial inquiry was ordered since there were conflicting reports about the incident.

He said one report said that police opened fire after violent mob tried to set on fire a police vehicle.
However, another report said that it was a cold blood killing.
