Hurriyat, JKLF Calls for Shutdown, Protests over Teenager’s Killing
SRINAGAR; A day after the incident, the Hurriyat (G) faction led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani has called for strike on Sunday.
Hurriyat has appealed people to observe complete strike on March 16, 2014,Sunday to peacefully protest against the bloodshed of Kashmiris and divert the attention of international community towards their sufferings. The conglomerate has also appealed Ulemas, Imams, intellectuals, and other prominent personalities of the society to raise the issue of the constant sufferings of Kashmiris during their lectures from their respective platforms.
Hurriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar said the the amalgam has called for valley-wide shutdown to protest the killing of Farhat Dar in police firing in Naidkhai yesterday.
Chairman of Hurriyat (M) Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, while expressing serious concern and deep anguish over the civilian killing, termed it as a cold blooded murder of Kashmiri youth by the armed forces. He said, "This incident is once again an open display of state terrorism, to which the people of Kashmir are repeatedly subjected."
While calling for shutdown tomorrow, he urged people to raise their voice against the innocent killings.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik has called for a protest at Lal Chowk on Monday against the killing.
