Pro-Indian, Pro-Freedom Leaders Slammed Farooq Over 'Maha Chor' Remarks
SRINAGAR; As Union Minister Farooq Abdullah Monday refuted the reports that he termed Kashmiris 'maha chors', (Biggest thugs) and said that he was misquoted by media, opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) asked him to challenge the legality of the report.
Pertinently, Dr Farooq has reportedly termed the people of Kashmir as biggest thieves during the function at Delhi in the recent past. Dr Farooq while taking strong exception to the statement attributed to him Monday claimed that he was ‘misquoted’.
“Does he have the nerve to challenge the legality of the report wherein he insulted the people of Kashmir by terming them biggest thieves?” asked PDP chief spokesman Naeem Akhtar.
Akhtar claimed further that there is audio-visual recording of the event and that Dr Farooq cannot deny it. “It is not for the first time that he has insulted the people of Kashmir. Once he said Kashmir ko Goli maro. Dr Farooq and his son Omar Abdullah even termed youth of Kashmir as Stone pelters, drug addicts and foreign agents. The even questioned the character of the unfortunate women of Shopian.”
The PDP spokesman accused that Sheikh family has always treated Kashmiris as ‘contempt’. “Both father and son must know that now is the era of electronic media and whatever they have said about the people of Kashmir is on record.”
Akhtar accused further that NC always sold people of Kashmir and is responsible for all the miseries. “They sold our water resources, our people and even JK bank.”
As soon as news about his remarks spread, from a comman man to a high profile, everyone slammed Farooq Abdullah for his comments.
Opposition PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti said this is not the first that the NC leadership has defamed the people, who have been voting them to power, but they have always been on the forefront in doing their character assassination both in and outside the state. She said, “They call people, who raise voice against them, as anti-nationals and they have demonised our youth as drug addicts, LeT agents and criminals.” She said to remain in the power the NC has been exploiting people on hallow promises from last more than 60 years now. “Be it in 1975 or 1996, the NC has always betrayed people and compromised their interests, self-respect for the sake of power,” Mehbooba said adding they have been treating people as their slaves and it is their deliberate strategy to defame the image of Kashmiris to remain relevant in certain quarters in New Delhi.
Awami Itehad Party Chairman and MLA Langate Engineer Rashid said “ Dr. Farooq Abdullah should tender an immediate apology to entire Kashmiri nation and should not forget that whatever status he has is on account of the unprecedented favours of Kashmiri nation . Since 1931, Kashmiri nation has one in other way greatly helped the ‘Sheikh dynasty’ and even sold its personal properties for this dynasty. One is bamboozled whether Dr. Farooq Abdullah who played a leading role in hanging of Maqbool Bhat to Afzal Guru is a big thief or the nation of Kashmir that destroyed its four generations by trusting on fake promises of National Conference (NC).”
Sajad Lone Chairman Peoples’Conference took grave affront to the statement of Chief Patron of NC and Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy Dr Farooq Abdullah calling Kashmiri’s as “Biggest Thieves”. He termed the statement as derogatory to the collective dignity of Kashmiri’s and that it reflected the true nature of the NC leadership’s contempt for the people.
Huriyat Conference (M) spokesman Monday said that those who have plundered the resources of the state for the sake of power and personal luxury and pleasure are now calling kashmiris as thieves.
The statement issued to a local news gathering agency stated that the spokesman said that before doing so Farooq Abdullah should have looked into his own doings where he would come to know to about the damage he and his party has done to the people of Kashmir politically, economically and socially.
