Article 370 Only on Papers not in Reality: Geelani

SRINAGAR; All parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman and top pro-azadi leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani Tuesday termed the 'abrogation of Article 370' as expected by BJP party.

In a statement issued, the senior hurriyat leader said ,"There is nothing new in the election manifesto of BJP. Article 370 is recorded in the official papers only and is nowhere present on the ground." adding "This article doesn't hold any importance until Kashmir is forcibly occupied by India."

While condeming the statements of pro-indian leaders including Omer Abdullah, Mufti Sayeed and Said-ud-din Soz, Geelani alleged, "These politicians who are making hue and cry like situation over this article have surrendered its essential constituents in front of authorities in New Delhi merely for power, chair and a handsome salary."

Terming the statement of Narendra Modi as ridiculous, the octagenarian leader said, "by beating the drum on integral part has neither changed the reality of Kashmir dispute in the past nor will it work in future. The resistance movement of Kashmir is getting stronger due to the colonial thinking of Indian politicians and the distance between New Delhi and Srinagar is getting difficult and longer."
