SIT playing foul into Wamiq Farooq's Killing Case: Father
SRINAGAR; 13, Sep 2012: “Special investigation team (SIT) is playing foul and using tricks to save the skin of culprits” alleged Farooq Ahmed Wani, father of late teenager Wamiq Farooq in a local court on Wednesday.
Wani alleged that in pursuance of court orders, IGP Kashmir constituted a SIT which is being headed by SP Headquarters, Srinagar. But unfortunate thing is that the team has been playing fraud and tricks by forcing eyewitness to change their statements and come to the places of their choices to record statements regarding death of Wamiq.”
He said, “We have apprehensions that the statements would be attributed to the eyewitnesses would have never deposed before SIT.”
“I was forced by SIT officials to record my statement. I am illiterate and cannot understand the comprehension and technicalities of what I am being asked and how it is reduced to writing by the SIT,” Wani said, adding, “Through media, I request the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar to kindly look into the matter and direct the SIT to visit spots and record statements of the eyewitnesses. Whatever information they give should be kindly reduced to writing in presence of qualified civilians to avoid wrong insertions.”
