JKCCCC Threatens Secretariat Gherao of on June 5th

KN DESK; 18, May 2013: Alleging the government of being insensitive towards it, the Jammu and Kashmir central contractor’s coordination committee (JKCCCC) has threatened for picketing (Gharoo) of Secretariat on June 5th.

Notably the call has been given in the wake,JKCCCC are accusing that the Govt. owes it pending bills of 700Crorers besides  has given to protest the lack of funds in treasury department and functioning of e-Tendering-billing processes ,which JKCCC demands should be regulate so that developmental works  are not hampered by bad weather .
“The withholding of the massive funds (owing to paucity of funds in Treasury Department) is heavily telling on us. We warn the government to release the pending bills immediately or face music,” JKCCCC General Secretary, Farooq Ahmad Dar said.

While claiming that the state government owes it more than Rs 700 crores, the contractor’s apex body---Jammu and Kashmir Central Contractors Coordination Committee (JKCCCC) ---has accused government of being insensitive to its demands.

“The tall government claims of keeping funds development funds fall from grace from the fact that it owes us bills worth Rs 700 crores are pending. Such an astronomical amount would make any organization to come on roads,” Dar said.

“We don’t understand that despite completing the developmental works on time why the government is delaying our payments. We warn it (government) that prolonged insensitive towards 70,000 contractors will only prove costly for it,” he said.

Dar also flayed the handling of the E-tendering and E-billing process in Kashmir. While pitching for regulations in its functioning, Dar said that the process should be set in motion in sync with the weather vagaries in the state.

“Snapping of electricity during the winters costs us tenders worth corers of rupees. Besides we don’t understand that why the state government it’s dragging its feet after the LA panel had recommended increase of 10 percent in the process,” said Dar.
