Omar hits out at Delhi : "You make us different"

SRINAGAR; 15, Aug 2013:  Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Thursday hit out at Delhi saying that they make "us different".

Addressing at the official function to celebrate India's Independence day at Bakshi Stadium Srinagar, Omar referred to Kishtwar incident and said " They ask me why are we (Kashmiris) always away from mainstream, I used to think about this and the answer is difficult. But this recent incident of Kistwar has given the answer. It is you who makes us different. Your treatment towards us is different. Then they talk about removing article 370 and integrating the state. With this kind of different and biased attitude towards us how is the integration possible".

"I have figures of how many communal acts have happened in 2012 and 2013 ( in Rajathan, Bihar, Gujarat etc). Why didnt these so call tall leader go there and made those into issues. Why only make issue out of small things from Kashmir alone? " he asked in an angry tone.

Contingents of police, paramilitary and the army marched at the stadium during the parade.

Indian Forces were on high alert in Srinagar and elsewhere in the Kashmir Valley.

An impregnable security ring was thrown around the Bakshi Stadium, the venue of the main independence day parade in the valley.

The stadium had been declared out of bounds for two days. All roads leading to the stadium were shut since Wednesday evening.

High rise buildings around the stadium were taken over by sharpshooters.

  1. TSHOOP CHHAYI RUPSINZ, KARAKH HAYI TE SUNSINZ. While silence is a golden thing for Kashmiris, Abdulla's statement might lead to provoke the nation not to remain with mouths shut. The dispute that has become a frozen issue since 1947 could have been resolved if everybody will speak out for the common cause: FREEDOM FOR KASHMIR, NOT WITH INDIA, NOT WITH PAKISTAN, BUT WITH KASHMIR ALONE! Applaud to the Chief Minister, may you continue to ignite and create not a smoke but a fire to spread over your nation to SEIZE BACK WHAT IS DULY YOURS- KASHMIR, YOUR OWN!
