Parvez Rasool says no to liquor logo

KN DESK; 12, May 2013: Kashmir's all-rounder Parvez Rasool, who plays for Pune Warriors, has blanked out the logo of a liquor brand (one of the sponsors of the IPL team) from his team-wear.

Rasool said that he had informed his team management of his decision and told them that if he sports the logo of the liquor brand it would 'hurt his religious sentiments'. The Pune Warriors team management is said to have agreed with Rasool's request.

"I used tape to hide the logo and people were initially wondering why I was doing this. I told them that it is because my religion prohibits alcohol consumption. I can't endorse liquor brand. For me my belief is paramount. My family is happy with the decision," Rasool told after Saturday's game versus the Mumbai Indians.

Initially, Rasool, a Muslim, didn't realise that the logo was that of a liquor brand. "I found it on the internet. So I decided that I would hide it even during practice sessions," he added. The 24-year-old made his IPL debut against KKR on Thursday.
